Decide To Hold On

Posted on Updated on

WELCOME BACK. The scripture says: “I can do all things through him who strengthens me”. In our articles today, I want to acknowledge that to develop capacity to persevere in the face of the inevitable obstacles and prevailing difficulties you must be consistent in your pursuit of your desire. That means, you must decide to hold on no matter what. And as much as you refuse to quit, you must eventually be successful. Your capacity to persist is what it takes to overcome the most difficult obstacles. Let me use this opportunity to tell you a story of a successful man who was celebrating his 80th birthday. Everyone knew how he rose up from abject poverty to become a wealthy man in spite of the fact that he only had six years of formal education. This man was well known for his words of wisdom which he had gathered through many years of business experience. After the event, a young entrepreneur wanting to extract some words of wisdom from him, walked up to him and asked “Sir, what is the secret of your success? The man looked at him and said I have asked myself that same question several years ago, and found no answer. He further said: “Son”, there is really no secret to it. From the time I was 12 years old until now, I have worked hard at everything I did. He further said that the only secret was that he decided to hold on tenaciously and that’s why he was successful today! Wow! That was a wonderful story and I came in conclusion that if you want to accomplish great tasks, hold on tenaciously. Because the longer you hold on, the more convinced and determined you become.

A man once said, “It’s not finished when a man or woman is defeated. He is finished when they quit”. Holding on is a success strategies. Nothing can keep you down unless you decide not to rise again. The most important saying I ever had is “never give up” It’s a powerful principles of success spoken by great minds. In success, you either stand up and be counted or lie down and be counted out. Defeat never comes to people until they admit it. Your success or failure will be measured by your willingness to persist, or your willingness never to continue any longer. Perseverance is the basic principles between a successful outcome and a failed outcome. Nothing significant was ever accomplished without setbacks and difficulties to contend with along the way, example Henry Ford went bankrupt three times before he managed to designed his first automobile. He subsequently succeeded to become one of the richest man in the world. He said, “Failure is merely an opportunity to more intelligently begin again”. Failure is not your final bus stop. The capacity to hold on breed success which is the sum total of small efforts, repeated day in and day out. Success doesn’t come from what you do occasionally. It comes from what you do consistently. Great achievers achieved great things simply because they refuse to give up. Refusing to give up is a winning strategies, because no matter how your challenges might be it cannot last forever. No wonder the scripture says for the righteous man falls seven times and he rises again. Remember, those who succeeded learned tenacity. They learned the value and benefits of perseverance. They refused to let any challenges or hard situation stand between them and their goals. They showed the masses real life situation that stability enable them to win in the end and that the ability to regenerate one’s course even in the midst of unbelievable circumstances can pay big dividend.
