Give Until It Hurts (Part 1)

Posted on Updated on

WELCOME BACK. The scripture says: “It is more blessed to give than to receive. ” (Acts 20:35b). A lifestyle of giving is one of the undeniable prerequisites of living. The great men and women of our world, the kind of people that others feel honoured to follow, don’t gather things just for themselves. They cultivate a lifestyle of giving and spend their lives enhancing the lives of others. They understand that money is a resource to be used and distributed and not a reward to be pursued for its own sake and then stashed away. Looking at the life of every great achievers, giving their wealth is to accomplish something of value in life. The only way to develop and maintain this lifestyle is to get into the habit of giving. Those successful men and women let go of their money. They support churches and organizations financially, they assist individual by helping them navigate the difficulties of life, they make dreams come true for promising protégés, they help charities fulfill their mission, and they develop the potential they find in others. You see, God placed a lifestyle of giving in us to eradicate the spirit of covetousness and to teach us a genuine value of wealth.

John Maxwell a renowned motivational speaker and author said, “No one stands taller in the climb to success than the person who is willing to bend over to help someone else.” Wow! That was profound! When you add value to another person by showing generosity toward them, you will actually benefit more than the recipient of your kindness. The question is! Are you a giver? Have you given to someone else, particularly to someone you view as being above you, not beneath you? If not, would you like to nurture the lifestyle of giving in your life? Then give something away, and start right now. But give something that’s valuable to you. If it doesn’t hurt, it’s not real giving. Give until it hurts. Give away some of your wealth or something that’s precious to you. Give it to someone who can benefit from it. Invest in another person’s life, so your money can outlive you and someone with potential can be propelled forward. One of the most vital decisions a person can take in this world is to help another person ascend to greatness. Remember, giving is a source of tremendous joy, so there is incredible value in giving, not only for the one who receives, but more so for the one who gives.
