WELCOME BACK. The scripture says: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9). To be courageous is a key ingredient for success. By way of definition, courageous is the capacity to get back up when you have been knocked down. It’s the ability to have a decisive action when everything is telling you to wait for things to be perfect. In furthermore, it means to be bold and have self-confidence in doing something. When you develop others by way of encouraging them to succeed you grow, you not only bring joy and happiness to them and yourself, but you also increase your influence and their ability to touch other people’s lives. It takes courage to be yourself and also to reveal your uniqueness. However, as with any frightening endeavour, the rewards of overcoming obstacles far out weight the consequences of not venturing forth. Steve Jobs told a story about the Graduating Student of Stanford University. He said “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living with the results of others people’s thinking”. That was profound. And it means never to let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and your God-given abilities. Courageous people are destiny oriented people.
Winston S.Churchill said, “Fear is a reaction, courage is a decision”. Courage enable us to do the hard things in life despite the challenges you face in your daily living. Courage makes us take a stand when it would have been easier to sit on the fence. Without courage, you will not be able to constantly stay in the direction of your dreams. When you develop courage you empower yourself with the ability to confront problems head on as well as acquire the skill required to deal with life’s inevitable challenges. Your everyday living requires courage if life is to be effective and to bring happiness. Courage is the ladder on which you must climb if you must reach the levels you have to reach in life and destiny. Dare to be yourself. When you dare to be yourself, you dare to be courageous. To be strong and vibrant is to realized the full potential of your unique skills and talents. God told Joshua to be courageous and to be strong enough because of the battle ahead. Don’t be afraid of failures, but be battle ready. Don’t fail backward, but fail forward. The fear of failing is definitely the biggest challenge to action in people’s lives. If you intend to be great, you need to push through that fear. We all need a push. Remember, your ability to overcome your fear is one of the undeniable marks of greatness.
