Money: The Necessities Of Life

Posted on

WELCOME BACK.  The scripture says. “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrow” According to the word of God, money is a good thing. Money is never referred to as evil. It’s the love of money that’s the root of all evil, because love involves obsession. God is gracious when money becomes a tool in your hands for doing good works for ourselves and for others, but God doesn’t want anybody to obsess over a temporal, earthly things. This is why God commanded “Thou shall have no other gods before me”.  God want to be first in your life and He want to sit on the throne of your life.

The reason why God created money and the reason He wants to bless you with financial resources is so you can become His hands in the world to do bidding and to fulfill His purposes. One of the motivation in the life of any person is the desire for financial independence. People just want to have enough money to be able to stop worrying about money. They just want to have enough money to stop thinking about it night and day. But ironically, the thing that seems to be the biggest problem for most people is really one of the simplest problems to solve in life. Acquiring and keeping money is not complicated, it requires a proper attitude towards the commodity of money and a few basic behaviour that have proven to be successful over time.

One of the mental obstacles to achieving financial independence is the deep seated superstition that money is somehow evil. Some of this mindset comes from our childhood conditioning. From the time when we were young, we can remember our fathers becoming angry when money was wasted. We can remember our fathers telling us that money doesn’t grow on trees and we can remember the secret guilt we felt because our parents had to spend their meagre money to feed, educate and cloth us. We also learnt at the early age that money is the root of all evil, that the pursuit of it causes crime and also that the desire of it causes greed. But I am here to tell you that money is not evil. Money is a good thing. Money can buy lots of wonderful things like homes, food, building of churches. Money has no life of its own and no moral character of its own. It’s nothing more and nothing less than a tool in the hands of the one who holds it. The scripture says money answer all things.

This is why I found it hard to read “Think and Grow Rich” the author suggests that we should about money until it becomes an obsession. But in the back of my mind I kept hearing ” the Love of Money is the root of all evil.” I couldn’t even finish the book. I had always felt guiltily about not finishing it. Thanks for this post!!!
